a significant, bold victorian revival coiled snake band made at a later date. this piece is a bit tricky to date accurately because it has enough time-earned wear and patina to fool us into believing it's near antique, but the modern mark and diamonds hint that this was likely from the late mid century and very likely an artisan or custom made piece
the time-earned patina is giving the yellow gold a rosier brassy hue than it started with, which offers depth and contrast throughout the design
there's evidence that the stamped scales and design details on the surface of the band were once more abundant and crisp, but they've now softened into an organic hint of scales and design details on the head
solid 10k yellow gold with two diamond eyes

slides down to just over size 9.75 on the sizing mandrel, but the band is just shy of 8mm wide, which is going to lead to the band fitting smaller than its measured size
snake's head measures ~6mm wide
rises 5mm off the finger where the snake's head rests on the coiled band
weighs 9.8g

heavy time-earned patina giving the yellow gold a brassier hue than it began with
heavy surface scratches, dents and dings throughout the gold
